Oh, How Time Flies!

Christmas a year ago.

Cute pics of him.

Cute pics of her.

Before
After

Zoe has graduated from wearing her helmet as of December 23rd. We'll go back for a checkup after three weeks of her not wearing the helmet, and if everything seems to be continuing to progress on its own, then she's permanently done with the helmet! This time has gone by so fast, and currently, she's working on not being so rough with her head, since she no longer has padding over it. She's gotten a few bumps and bruises, but she's learning how to get her head out of the way when she's rolling around the house. She's almost crawling, and likes to drag herself around with her arms. She rocks herself back and forth and throws herself forward, but hasn't quite gotten the coordination (must get it from mama) of using both her arms and legs together at the same time.

Tis' the Season

Aaron has been hanging his own ornaments on the tree.

On Saturday, Aunt KK and Aaron went on a "date" to the Santa Fe Community College basketball game. He actually sat and watched the game very seriously for about an hour. Then, they went to Hungry Howie's Pizza and to D'Lites for ice cream. He was so wound up and excited when he got home, it took him a while to calm down for bed.

Puffs & Puppy Dog Purses

I've learned how to pick up Puffs and eat them, and it seems I cannot get enough of them. They're so good!

Mimi sent me a puppy dog purse a while back, and I've started to discover it. I like to try to eat the nose.

Zoe's New Friend

One kid's fear is another kid's pleasure. Zoe discovered Aaron's Tickle Me Elmo yesterday morning and enjoyed him very much (Aaron didn't understand what all the fuss was about because Tickle Me Elmo freaks him out these days). Later on, after Aaron went down for a "nap", I heard Elmo talking out in the living room. I peaked around the corner to see Zoe had found him and the two of them were having a grand ole' time. =)

Teeth & Poop

The pictures don't show all her new teeth, but Zoe has had four new top teeth cut through at once this past week! Brian and I have each been bitten once this week, and have the marks to prove it...I'm sure it wasn't out of spite, we must taste good...

On a different note, we had a rather unpleasant event take place this afternoon of which I purposefully provided no pictures. As many of you know, Aaron has been refusing his afternoon nap off and on for some time now. Well, today was another such day. However, when I went in to get him up from his so-called "naptime", I was horrified to find a big ol' poopy diaper lying in the floor next to Aaron, who was free bird from the waist down, with one pant leg hanging onto his ankle for dear life. He had poop smeared all over the back of his legs, and on the carpet (since he decided to sit his poopy bum down a few times while he was "playing"). Oh, and he had also peed on the carpet, too. My hunch is that once the diaper was off, there was nowhere to go but on the carpet. He knew this whole event wasn't the way it should go, and as I stood there looking at him, not knowing if I should laugh or cry, he just looked at me and raised his eyebrows, half-smiling, saying "Yes, Ma'am" several times in a row. This was clearly his confession. I opened the window, turned on the fan, threw the poopy diaper away, and left the room. I ran Aaron a bath and sat on the couch for a moment, trying to regroup, knowing I'd have a big mess to clean up. After I bathed Aaron and had him sitting in his highchair with a snack and an Elmo Show to watch, I never cleaned a room so thoroughly in my life. He was on to the next thing, unaware of the nasty mess he's created for me. Needless to say, tomorrow is a new day, and maybe then I won't feel like an old hag.

Ball!

Aaron's ball cake for this weekend's festivities...partying all month long!

Here is a clip of Aaron seconds after he returned from his date with Aunt KK. He was so excited and ready to play some serious ball...needless to say, it took a little while for him to calm down enough to go to bed.

The Many Faces of Aaron

Aaron and Aunt KK went on a date tonight. At first, Aaron did not want to wear a belt and tie (as you can see in the the picture with Daddy, Aaron is NOT happy about this). But by the time Aunt KK came to pick him up for their outing, he forgot all about it. They went to the mall and he played at "The Swamp" (indoor playground), and they ate pizza and had ice cream at D'Lites afterward. Aunt KK even bought him a Gator ball. He came running through the door all smiles, screaming "ball!" and "KK!". He was so excited! He loves his KK!

Apparently, one of this arms escaped from his PJs during the night.

Go Mavs! & Elmo Birthday Party

My Little Pumpkins - Guess who?

The fam decked out in Mavs attire, ready for the first game of the season...which they lost.

Go Mavs!!!

Aaron's 2nd Birthday involved an Elmo Party. These lovely cupcakes were decorated with icing, marshmallows and orange gumballs. Brian moved the basketball hoop to the end of the driveway, and there was chalk provided for lots of driveway drawings, and eventually bubble blowing and running around like loons - what a blast!

Since Zoe wears a helmet that Aaron wishes for himself, we decided he should have his own helmet. He loves it, although if he thinks you're wanting him to wear it, he runs. Otherwise, he puts it on "at will".

Mimi (Aaron has decided that's my mom's name) and Zoe had many special times together.

Elmo Show Live at UF

The kids and I went to see Elmo live at The University of Florida today. Aaron had no idea what he was in for!
I thought ahead and brought his highchair base to keep him strapped so he wouldn't jump over the railing of our section (you think I'm kidding?). He pitched a fit at first, but once he got used to the idea, he even reached over and held my hand and wanted kisses. When the lights dimmed and the show began, Aaron was completely thrown off. He had no idea what was going on, although we talked about it all morning. All he knew of Elmo was his "Elmo Show" via DVD player at the house. He was very serious throughout the show, even while he was clapping, head bobbing and attempting to snap during the music. He even gave shout outs "Yeah!" every now and then, but not once broke a smile. That's my boy! Needless to say, he had a great time.
Even Zoe enjoyed the show. She fell asleep for a couple minutes, then popped open her eyes and watched all the lights the rest of the time.
This picture was taken while we were waiting for the show to start. Aaron was still upset about being "trapped" in his highchair, and Zoe was eyeballing the snack in Aaron's hand, wanting it for her own.
More to come after Aaron's 2nd birthday this weekend...Elmo Party all the way!!!
